Real Madrid wins the Seventh... Spanish Super Cup. The Bernabéu effect allows the Whites to achieve another new trophy before its fans. The 3-0 score in Madrid neutralises the 2-1 score that Spanish Cup Winner Mallorca achieved on its ground. The second leg made everything clear. Raúl opened the score when the break was drawing near (44'), Ronaldo made the lead bigger (52') and Beckham put an end to the white scoring in his first game in front of his fans… It was a header from an assist of Ronaldo's (73')! ...World Champion! Real Madrid achieves its third Intercontinental Cup in Yokohama (Japan). Its first one was won against Peñarol in 1960 and the second one against Vasco de Gama in 1998. This time round the rival was Paraguayan Olimpia de Asunción, winner of the 2002 Libertadores Cup. The final result was 2-0. Ronaldo opened the score in the 13th minute with a fantastic attacking move of Real. Despite the resistence shown by Olimpia in the first half, Madrid clearly had the control of the second half and finally consolidated its win with Guti's header in the 84th minute. This trophy made the Centenary Triple Achievement to conclude the historic year 2002, which was our 100th birthday August 31st, 2002

He scores his second one in the 78th minute to consolidate an amazing victory against Alavés (5-2) August 30th, 2002
We got them all! Real achieves the only big official trophy that was missing from the Santiago Bernabéu trophy cabinet. Europe Super Cup is won in Monaco after beating Dutch Feyenoord at the final. Roberto Carlos made the win possible as he started the move of the first goal (1-0) and also hit a superb second target (2-0). Van Hooijdonk cut the lead down with a free kick, but Guti consolidated the victory making the definitive 3-1. At times during the game Real Madrid came to show some spectacular football. At last, after the finals lost in 1998 and 2000 against Chelsea and Galatasaray, the European Super Cup came to Madrid. Welcome home. May 15th, 2002
European Champions again!!! Real Madrid achieves the top continental competition for the ninth time in its History after defeating German Bayer Leverkussen by 1-2 with targets by Raúl and Zidane. It is the second time that Glasgow's Hampden Park sees Real Madrid as European Champion. The Scottish arena has become a mythical ground to Real. After a spotless performance all through the tournament (top-seeded team in the two group stages; a win against 2001 European champion Bayern Munich in quarterfinals) and after having defeated Barcelona in semifinals with a 2-1 score at Nou Camp, Real clinched the trophy in the decisive and unforgettable game. They had to fight the tough resistence of an excellent Bayer, a rival that also fought really hard until the very last minute. The significance of this final as the best possible climax of the Centenary year will always be remembered not only for the special occasion, but also for the extraordinary goal scored by Zinedine Zidane. A European trophy and an awesome goal are the best memories from this historical year for Madrid. March 6th, 2002
Real Madrid is 100 years old. It is a day full of exciting experiences for the whole Real Madrid family, although the team fails to clinch the Spanish Cup contested at our Stadium on this very day. Deportivo Coruña won by 1-2. The Club arranges an impressive series of events to celebrate the Centenary of the Best Club of the 20th Century as Real Madrid deserves. The next 365 years are to be the whitest in the history of world football.
